Sangeet

The Sangeet or Ladies Sangeet is a traditional pre-wedding event in Indian weddings that celebrates the bride and groom’s love and upcoming marriage. This event is a time for the families to come together and share in the joy of the couple’s union through music and dance. This night kicks off the celebrations for the wedding and includes performances from the bride and groom’s family and friends.

Traditionally the Ladies Sangeet would be attended only by the women in the family who would sing songs about the journey the bride or groom are about to embark on. In modern times, men are allowed to join in on the fun as well.

We can’t wait to share the best of Punjabi and Latin music with everyone as our families and friends come together for the first time.

Sikh Wedding Ceremony - Anand Karaj

The Sikh Wedding ceremony begins with a Baraat which is the groom’s procession to the site of the wedding ceremony or the Anand Karaj. The procession is lively and filled with music as the groom and his family and friends all dance and make their way to meet the bride’s family.

The Anand Karaj takes place in the Gurudwara or temple. There 4 Pheras (rounds) around the Holy Book, the Guru Granth Sahib. Each Phera signifies a vow and a stage in the couple’s spiritual journey together. The priest leads the ceremony which consists of hymns about importance of the marriage and the couple’s union as well as their responsibilities to each other.

Catholic Wedding Ceremony

The Catholic Wedding ceremony is a special mass that takes place in a church. Led by a priest, a couple joins in holy matrimony in front of their loved ones and God. The mass consists of sermons and hymns that speak about the commitment of marriage. At the conclusion of the mass, the bride and groom exchange vows and will be married.
